We call St. John Nepomucene in Bohemia our home and meet on first Tuesday of the month for council business and on third Tuesday for social events. We are an active council participating in and sponsoring many fraternal, social and family activities.
In the Columbian year 2009-10 we were awarded by the Supreme Council, the high honor of "Double Star Council" in recognition of exceeding the Columbian goals set forth by the New York State Council, a rare achievement.
Who are the Knights?
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization with over 1.8 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people. Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local Catholic Church, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
