Not too early to think about nominations of Officers for the Columbian Year 2012-3. Marty Ryan will chair the Nominating Committee. Any 3rd Degree member in good standing may run for any office, except Financial Secretary or Lecturer.

In spite of the inclement weather (snow) on Saturday January 21st, the Altar Servers Breakfast was held and suprisingly it was well attended. In addition to many Altar Servers and their parents, fellow Knights Rich Baran, Al Conlin, Rich Dambeck, John Finn, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jerry Hannon, Jack McKean, Roger Mott, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Jay Purdy, Joe Rannazzisi, Marty Ryan, Pat Scalza, Father Joe Schafler, Domenico Sodano and Jose Vazquez were there to setup, cook pancakes,waffles & bacon, cleanup and enjoy themselves. The Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw Competition for 10-14 year old girls and boys was held on January 18th. Able assistants to Rich Gottcent, chairman for this event, was provided by Al Conlin, John Finn, Mike Grudzinski, Jerry Hannon, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Marty Ryan, Pat Scalza, Ken Smith and Jose Vazquez. All in attendance had an enjoyable experience.

The Parish Christmas Tree Lighting took place on December 17th. In attendance were Brother Knights Rich Baran, John Finn, Deacon Tony Cusumano, Father Kevin Gruber, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Jose Vazquez, Steve Ventimiglia. Check out the pictures

On December 10th Brother Knights Rich Baran, Rich Dambeck, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jerry Hannon, Mike Lotierzo, Joe Maniscalco, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Jay Purdy and Jose Vazquez put the Blessed Mother Grotto and Welcome to Bohemia corner to bed for the winter. An added bonus was the installation of 800 more Christmas lights on the Parish Christmas Tree in preparation for the lighting on December 17th after the 5pm Mass. Our fourth Blood Drive of the year was held on Sunday November 27th. Fellow Knights Al Conlin, Richie Dambeck, John Finn, Brian Fitzpatrick, Rich Gottcent, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, John Pierce, Jay Purdy, Pat Scalza, and Jose Vazquez helped setup, provide hospitality and breakdown for this event. Thank you to all the parishioners that participated in this very important life giving donation. Our year to date (11/30) donations are 282 pints, with possibility of 300 pints for the year. GREAT JOB AL CONLIN.

Our second Social Night with a Theme was held on October 18th. Turnout for a night of camaderie was terrific and a great time was had by all. 4th Degree Exemplification was held on October 9th. Congratulations Sir Knights Ernest Dench, Michael Grudzinski, Michael Lotierzo and Joseph Maniscalco.

Installation of Officers for 2011-2 was held on October 1st after the 5pm Mass. A reception was held after the installation and as usual Brian Fitzpatrick (his lovely wife, really) outdid themselves in providing a marvelous repast. Click here for pictures

To cap off the very busy September 24th the Knight at the Races was held at the American Legion Hall and as usual all attendees enjoyed the night. Click here for pictures.

On September 24th fellow Knights Rich Baran, Rich Dambeck, John Finn, Jerry Hannon, Jason Maloney, Joe Maniscalco, Hank Paetow, Andy Pierce, Jay Purdy, Mathew Thoyalil, Steve Tjersland and Jose Vazquez, assisted by Steve's nephew Shaun Chillias, undertook the maintenance of The Blessed Mother Grotto, Welcome to Bohemia corner and KIC (Keep Islip Clean). Our third Blood Drive of the year was held on Tuesday September 20th. This was a reschedule due to Hurricane Irene. The Doo Wop Dance was held on September 17th and was attended by 160 people. The band was The Precisions and they were terrific. In addition to the great music and fabulous food, dancing and refreshments were thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees. Our 2nd Blood Drive of the year was held on June 26th. Blood Drive Captain Al Conlin was assisted by fellow Knights Rich Baran, John Finn, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jerry Hannon, John Kelly, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, John Pierce, Jay Purdy, Pat Scalza, Domenico Sodano, Jose Vasquez and Steve Ventimiglia. Raffle winners were: Edwin Mortensen-2 Ducks tickets and Charles Gee-2 tickets to a Creative Ministries show. Thanks to all Parish donors.

On June 25th Brothers Rich Baran, Al Conlin, Jerry Hannon and Jerry O'Brien engaged in the maintenance of the Blessed Mother Grotto and the Welcome to Bohemia corner.

The 8th Annual Louis L. Reuss Golf Tournament was held on June 20th at Middle Island Country Club. It was a beautiful day and all golfers and workers thoroughly enjoyed the day and the venue. Check out the pictures to find your group.

The Long Island Blood Group held their Appreciation Dinner on June 16th. In attendance with Blood Captain Al Conlin were fellow Knights Bob Capolino, Rich Dambeck, Ernest Dench, Joe Maniscalco, Hank Paetow, John Pierce, Domenico Sodano, Mathew Thoyalil and Stev Ventimiglia. Election of Officers was held on June 7th and the current slate was reelected with the addition of Jerry Hannon as an Inside Guard.

An Appreciation BBQ was held May 31, 2011 for the Special Olympic volunteers from Connetquot High School. The Special Olympics staff said that this was one of the best run events that they have had. We think that the student volunteers were a prime reason for this. It was a pleasure to have worked with such a wonderful group of youngsters. Fellow Knights Rich Baran, Al Conlin, John Finn, Joe Maniscalco, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Jay Purdy, Pat Scalza, Jose Vazquez and Steve Ventimiglia enjoyed serving the hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. The Bohemia Fire Department held another great Memorial Day Parade to honor our military on May 30th. The following Knights marched in the parade: Ed Colligan, Al Conlin, Ernest Dench, Sal Esposito, John Finn, Mike LaSorsa, Joe Maniscalco, Tom McCormack, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Jay Purdy, Marty Ryan, Pat Scalza, Domenico Sodano, Emmett Vandermark, Jose Vazquez and Steve Ventimiglia. The Crowning of Mary was held on May 10, 2011. A nice crowd participated in the Living Rosary including fellow Knights Antonino Balsano, Rich Baran, Al Conlin, Rich Dambeck, Sal Esposito, John Finn, Mike Grudzinski, Vinny Mandato, Jack McKean, Deacon Roger Mott, Hank Paetow, Pat Scalza, Mathew Thoyalil, Steve Tjersland and Steve Ventimiglia.

The Knights of Columbus New York State Annual Prayer Rally was held on May 10, 2011. In attendance at this great event were fellow Knights Jerry O'Brien, Jay Purdy, Steve Tjersland and Steve Ventimiglia. Also attending was District Deputy Tom Humel.

The Special Olympics Spring Games South was held on May 1, 2011 at the Connetquot High School. Thanks are extended to all the fellow Knights, school personnel, Special Olympics staff, volunteers, Bohemia Fire Department and all the companies and organizations that participated in this event. To list them all would take many, many pages but you know who you are and thank you for making this event so spectactular!! First Degree Exemplification was held on April 19th. Taking their 1st Degree were Paul Azzara, Mike Bonavoglia, Carl Chiesa, Barry Improte, Thomas Laudadio, Gary Loesch, Jason Maloney and Richard Miller. Check out the photos.

The Spring cleaning of the Blessed Virgin Mary Grotto and KIC were conducted on April 9th. Rich Baran led the cleanup crew of fellow Knights
Al Conlin, Rich Dambeck, John Finn, Mike Grudzinski, Jerry Hannon, Jason Mahoney (Creche fame), Joe Maniscalco, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Jay Purdy, Pat Scalza, Ken Smith,Domenico Sodano, Steve Tjersland & Steve Ventimiglia. Ernie Dench stopped to congratulate all on the work accomplished. Wow! what a great turnout, and terrific job of sprucing up the Grotto. Special thank you to Jason Mahoney (Creche), Jerry Hannons' granddaughter Morgan Gaffney and Steve Tjerslands' nephew Shaun Chillias. Check out the pictures.

The presentation of "NunSense" to benefit the renovation fund was held on April 1st. Fellow Knights Al Conlin, John Finn, Jerry Hannon, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Pat Scalza and Steve Tjersland ably assisted fellow parishioners and staff to make this show an outstanding success. Early estimates indicate raising approximately $5,000. Another job well done.

Brothers Rich Baran, Rich Dambeck, John Finn, Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Grudzinski, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, John Pierce, Pat Scalza and Jose Vazquez ably assisted Capt. Blood Al Conlin in our Blood Drive on March 20th. 65 Units were collected. Another job well done gentlemen. Thank you to the fellow Knights and parishioners of St. John's that donated today. Our Annual St. Valentine's Dance was held on February 12th and Brian Fitzpatrick and crew outdid themselves again. A SMASH SUCCESS! Very positive feedback from those in attendance. Great food, band and excellent company made for a very pleasant dinner dance. Lest we not forget the setup and decorations were done by fellow Knights Al Conlin, Rich Dambeck, John Finn, Brian Fitzpatrick, Rich Gottcent, Jerry Hannon, Jack McKean, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow, Pat Scalza, Domenico Sodano, Steve Tjersland, Jose Vazquez and Don Wetzel. Another job well done. Many of the above mentioned Knights did many jobs and we thank you for your time and effort. Special thanks to our MC Rich Gottcent, our photographer Joe Maniscalco and Connor Fitzpatrick for patiently printing out the photographs for all. The next phase of the Free Throw Contest was held at Prince of Peace School on February 12th and fellow Knights Al Conlin, John Finn, Rich Gottcent, Jerry Hannon, Jerry O'Brien, Hank Paetow and Don Wetzel were on hand to lend their able assistance.

At our meeting on February 8th, our District Deputy Tom Humel proudly displayed the plaque he was presented with for his district being only 1 of 6 districts to be awarded Star District status. Tom thanked our council for leading the way. This is an extremely prestigous award, and our council is proud to have participated. WOW! Check out the pictures.

Hearty congratulations to our Youth Directors Rich Gottcent and Don Wetzel and their able assistants: Jose Vazquez, Steve Tjersland, Pat Scalza, Marty Ryan, Jay Purdy, Jerry O'Brien, Jerry Hannon, Mike Grudzinski, John Finn and Al Conlin for an excellent K of C Free Throw Contest held on January 28th. 2nd Degree Exemplification was held on January 18th. This was a first for us. The degree was well attended. Our special thanks to the kitchen staff, Rich Baran, Al Conlin, Rich Dambeck, Jerry O'Brien and Pat Scalza, and the director of operations Marty Ryan. Another job well done and appreciated by all in attendance.

The Parish Epiphany Pageant and reception was held on January 2nd. The pageant was excellently done by the children of the parish. Assisting in this endeavor were fellow Knights Al Conlin, Rich Dambeck, Jerry O'Brien, Jay Purdy, Pat Scalza, Domenic Sodano and Steve Ventimiglia. Another job well done.
